Ashley Cortes-Ose & Maruta Sipola

Ashley uzauga un drīvo Queens, NY.  Viņa studē dejošanu Huner Koledžā. Brīvajā laikā viņai patīk dejot, zīmēt, pinzelēt, ceļot, un vingrot.  Viņas māte un brālis dzīed Ņujorkas Latviešu korī un viņa bieži piebiedrojās ALJA un citos latviešu pasākumos.  Viņai ļoti patīk redzēt aktīvo latviešu sabiedrību un kā visi dalās ar kultūru.  Ashley zināja, ka viņa gribēja būt vairāk iesaistīta and kļūt tuvāk pie viņas latviešu identitātes.  Viņa ir iesniedzusi mākslas darbus Vēja Zvaniem un ir ļota sajūsmināta izmantot viņas radošās spējas salikt darbu kas biedriem patiks lasīt!

 Ashley grew up and lives in Queens, NY.  She is a dance major at Hunter College.  In her free time, Ashley enjoys dancing, drawing, painting, traveling, and working out. Her mom and brother sing in the New York Latvian choir, and they frequently attend Latvian events hosted by ALJA or other organizations. At these events, she always admired the bond everyone shared and how their love of their culture brought them all together. Ashely knew that she wanted to be more involved, and to connect to her Latvian heritage more. AShley has submitted art work to Vēja Zvani twice before, and is very excited to use her love for the arts and communication to bring her American and Latvian culture together in something that everyone can be a part of and enjoy reading. 

Maruta uzauga Blairstown, NJ un pašlaik dzīvo Houghton, MI kur viņa studē Michigan Technological University. Viņa pašlaik studē mežkopību (forestry) un biznesu. Brīvajā laikā, viņa iet izbraukumos kopā ar draugiem lai baudīt dabu un vēsturiskas vietas. Viņa pašlaik mācās kā spēlēt ukulele un viņai  patīk nodarboties ar filmu un diģitālu fotogrāfēšanu. Ziemas laikā viņa brauca ar sniegadēli. Maruta izdomāja iestāties ALJA valdē jo viņa gribēja paplašināt savu lomu latviešu sabiedrība, kā arī tālāk palīdzēt citiem paveikt to pašu. Maruta ir ļoti novērtusi kā ALJA godina mūsu kopējo tautu caur pasākumiem un citām darbībām.

Maruta grew up in Blairstown, NJ and currently lives in Houghton, MI where she studies at Michigan Technological University.  She is studying Forestry with a business minor.  In her free time Maruta enjoys road trips with her friends to visit natural attractions and historic locations.  She is currently learning how to play the ukulele and enjoys film and digital photography. In the winter she also likes to snowboard.  Maruta wanted to get involved with ALYA to expand her active role in the latvian community and to encourage others to do the same.  She has valued how ALYA has honored how culture through events and other work.
