Līna šogad sāka savu piekto gadu ALJA valdē; pirmos trīs viņa nostrādāja kopā ar Selgu kā A’Z redaktrise. Tādēļ, ka viņa arī strādā Ņujorkas pilsētā kā redaktrise media firmā “Littlethings.com,” viņai apnika domāt par vārdiem visu dienu, un izdomāja ka bija laiks pāriet uz jaunu valdes posteni. Brīvo laiku viņa pavada izbaudīdama dabu kalnos, ceļodama, un lasīdama daiļliteratūru. Kā sekretāre, viņa ir sajūsmināta rīkot intensīvas sēdes interesantās pilsētās (Austin, TX? Losā? Kur mēs tiksimies?!).

 

 


RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS POSITION: 

The secretary is responsible for the organization of ALJA board meetings (3 or 4 throughout the  year) as well as recording and distributing minutes of each meeting.

  • The Protocol is a list of action points and comments from the discussions at the meeting of the Board

Secretary also organizes conference calls between official meetings and pass the administrative file of the Board, such as:

  • Thank you cards and condolence card writing

As part of ALJA "Executive Board", together with the chairman, vice chairman and treasurer, the  secretary helps decide the yearly budget at the beginning of the year and to ensure that each board member fulfills his or her obligations.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU WORK IN THIS POSITION?

The secretary has the most amount of work around the 4 times a year, when they hold board meetings. After each meeting, the secretary has to correct and sent out the protocol. Also there are always other duties that take place over the year, but the meetings is the largest part.

WHO WOULD BE SUITABLE FOR THIS POSITION?

The Secretary must be organized. He/she has to know and understand the internal workings of the ALJA board works - specifically, how to hold board meetings.

TECHNICAL SKILLS :

Latvian written language skills, and also the Latvian acquaintance who could help with the protocol language correction.
