Study Abroad in Latvia (high school or university)
ALYA offers $1000 scholarship for an individual to study in a Latvian
high school or university for at least one semester. The classes must
be in Latvian. The applicant must live in a Latvian dorm or stay with
a Latvian family. We must receive an official confirmation from the
educational institution.
LOM Scholarship (Latvian Occupation Museum Scholarship)
ALYA offers at least one $2,000 scholarship to work at the Latvian
Occupation Museum for a total of 150 hours in a four to eight week period.
The scholarship recipient is responsible
for arranging the trip to Latvia and for finding and paying for room and
board while in Latvia. The applicant must be a high school graduate. In
the application essay it is suggested to stress what qualities the
applicant has that could be useful for work in the museum (i.e. knowledge
of languages, history, etc.) The recipient will be expected to work
primarily as a museum guide, although it is also possible to be
involved in other museum projects, depending on the recipient's knowledge,
background and experience. Other work related responsibilities may include
translating or computer/database work.
ProLAT Scholarship (Project Latvia)
ALYA offers a $2000 scholarship to an individual for their own
cultural/educational project to be completed in Latvia. This
scholarship may be the only monetary award received during the
project completion, at least 6 weeks. Applicants must have
completed two years of university study.
Application shall also include:
- Project's main idea, goal, and location
- Project time line
- Project budget
- A letter from the corresponding organization (ex. University, NFP org)
ALYA Congress Scholarship
ALYA offers a scholarship to cover participation fees for the annual
ALYA Congress. The only requirement for this scholarship is a one-page
essay explaining why this applicant is worthy.
