The American Latvian Youth Association (ALJA)
The American Latvian Youth Association (ALJA) is a national non-profit
organization founded in 1951. Our mission is to unite, support and
maintain Latvian youth in the United States. Our members are between
the ages of 18 and 35. ALJA actively motivates and supports our members
to achieve their academic, cultural and professional goals.
ALJA unites Latvian youth in America by
Organizing cultural and entertaining events bringing Latvians together.
Promoting networking among Latvians.
ALJA supports Latvian youth in America by
Offering academic scholarships and project grants.
Supplying them with the information they need to achieve their academic and professional goals.
ALJA maintains Latvian youth in America by
Promoting the importance of learning and speaking the Latvian language.
Educating our members with news and events in Latvian society in the U.S. and Latvia.
Inviting them to actively participate in Latvian society in the U.S.
ALJA organizes and supports numerous events throughout the year check out the calendar for currently planned events!
ALJA helps provide opportunities for young people to visit and experience Latvia take a look at the scholarships ALJA offers and also other links to programs associated with Latvia!
ALJA holds an annual congress every November for all members, where, among other activities, there is the annual member meeting and election of next years board.
